AudiencePoint and Client SFTP (Public Key) integration
This guide is for connecting your own SFTP server using key-based authentication. Looking for something different? Use Client FTP to connect your own server with a username and password instead, or AudiencePoint FTP if you’d rather AudiencePoint host the server for you.
The AudiencePoint Client SFTP (Public Key) integration connects your organization’s externally hosted SFTP server to AudiencePoint using key-based authentication. Instead of a password, AudiencePoint generates a public key that you add to your SFTP server — so no password is stored. You host and manage the server; AudiencePoint connects to it.
Most teams complete setup in just a few minutes.
What does this integration do?
- Connects your externally hosted SFTP server to AudiencePoint using key-based authentication.
- Allows AudiencePoint to build Audiences from subscriber data on your SFTP server.
- Delivers analysis results back to your SFTP server.
Before you begin
Have the following ready before starting setup:
- Your SFTP server hostname and login username.
- Your server port, if different from the default (22).
- Your base path, if your server requires one.
- The ability to add a public key to your SFTP server for the login user. You may need a server administrator to do this.
Step 1: Create the integration
Log in to AudiencePoint and open Integrations.
Click New and select Client SFTP (Public Key) from the list of integration types.
Step 2: Enter server details
Enter your SFTP server details in the following fields:
- Server hostname — the address of your SFTP server.
- Login user — your SFTP username.
- Port — defaults to 22. Update this only if your server uses a different port.
- Path — the base path on your SFTP server. Leave blank if not required.
The Public Key (Generated) field is filled in by AudiencePoint, not by you. After you save, you’ll copy this key and add it to your server (Step 6).
Step 3: Select features and directories
Choose which features to enable and enter a directory path for each. Audience Creation is enabled by default.
- Audience Creation — allows AudiencePoint to build Audiences from subscriber data on your SFTP server. Enter the directory AudiencePoint should pull from.
- Analysis Delivery — delivers analysis results to your SFTP server. Enter the directory where AudiencePoint should deposit results.
Step 4: Name the integration
Give the integration a descriptive name. This is especially helpful if you plan to create more than one SFTP integration.
Step 5: Save
Click Save. AudiencePoint generates your public key and displays it in the Public Key (Generated) field.
Step 6: Add the public key to your SFTP server
Copy the generated public key and add it to your SFTP server’s authorized keys for the login user you entered. This allows AudiencePoint to authenticate to your server. The connection becomes active once the key is in place.
Verify the connection
- The integration appears in your Integrations list.
- The integration status shows as active.
- No errors or warnings are displayed.
- Your selected features are shown as enabled.
Managing your integration
Once created, your Client SFTP integration is available from the Integrations list. From there you can:
- View your server configuration and directory settings.
- Toggle features on or off.
